Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Radiofrequency (RF) Testing

Measuring Radio and Electromagnetic Emissions

Almost all electronic devices generate some level of unwanted interference. Devices are not only requested to work as intended in the environment they are designed for, but also required to comply with the maximum limit of unintentional disturbances they generate. Furthermore, they have to be immune to a defined level of electromagnetic radiation disturbance both in radiated and conducted modes.

Devices are also requested to both legally and efficiently use the available RF spectrum and ensure the protection of the health and safety of persons, domestic animals and property, always in compliance with global legal requirements.
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Radio Frequency (RF) testing, including Over The Air Testing (OTA) and Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) testing, closely analyses the ability of devices to operate safely and effectively when in proximity to other electronic devices or in the presence of electromagnetic emissions.
All of DEKRA’s EMC and RF testing takes place according to international and local standards, global regulations and against manufacturer test specifications. Our EMC and RF testing services are applicable for all electric and electronic products and our testing specialists work across almost every sector, including consumer, industrial, medical, automotive, military, aero-space, information technology and wireless.
DEKRA provides testing and certification for EMC as a Notified Body (NB) under the European Electromagnetic Compatibility directive 2014/30/EU, helping customers to access EU markets and countries including the USA, China, Japan and Australia among others. The US Federal Communication Commission (FCC) has listed DEKRA as a Conformity Assessment Body (CAB), which means that all of our EMC test results are accepted by the FCC, granting our customers access to the US market. Additionally, as a notified body, DEKRA is able to support customers on a continuous basis, issuing an NB Opinion according to the RED Directive, if and when applicable.
